ENRICHMENTS

ICCS promotes growth through the development of skills in less traditional curriculumsinvolving visual arts, foreign language, music, technology, expressive communication and wellness. Listed below are enrichment courses available to our students.

 DESCRIPTION GRADES

Bell Choir

Students learn to read music and play hand-bells, performing at the Christmas concert

Choir

Performance of liturgical music at Masses and secular and sacred music at concerts throughout the school year

Computer

Study of computer literacy and keyboarding with an integration of core subjects

K-8

Drama

An introduction to theatre with opportunities to participate in stage performances including a December and a May production.

Fitness

Circuit Training designed to improve one?s strength and cardiovascular fitness

Library

Study of basic skills needed to become independent library patrons, fostering a love of reading and literature, emphasizing library organization, using the electronic catalog, and use in standard library materials such as books, encyclopedias, and almanacs to locate information

Music

Music emphasizes the Kodaly Philosophy using folk music and Liturgical music in order to enhance our worship services through student participation.  Various opportunities to perform include a Christmas concert and an end-of-the-year program.

Physical Education

Learning, developing, and applying skills needed for personal fitness utilizing standards for Presidential and National Fitness

Spanish Elementary A brief introduction to Spanish taught by a part time Spanish teacher.

K-5

Spanish I & II

Students are given the opportunity to learn to understand, speak, read, and write the Spanish language as well as introduces them to the nature and structure of the language

6-8

Visual Arts

Creative, intellectual, and aesthetical study of art through the application of media techniques and processes with knowledge of art elements and principles of design

Sign Language

Students study the basic letters and common words used in communicating in sign language
