In August 2007, Immaculate Conception Cathedral
School initiated "Building On Tradition" capital campaign. The
project was endorsed by Bishop Glen John Provost and Monsignor
Jace Eskind. Our goal was to construct an additional building on the
same land where St. Charles once stood housing four new classrooms,
student restrooms, a state of the art library equipped with a
technology center, and rooms for fine arts, as well as students with
special needs.
The ICCS Building On Tradition committee made up of ICCS parents was
thrilled in September 2010 to announce that acceptable bids were
placed. The diocese determined that the current donations ($1.7
million) from ICCS friends and families, combined with a $500,000
loan secured by the Cathedral Parish, was enough to complete the
project. Construction began in February 2011.
We are very excited as we near the end of the year and the
completion of this new addition. The dedication of our new building
will kick off Catholic Schools Week on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Our
capital campaign continues so as to complete the repayment of the
loan secured by our parish. With prayers and generosity of the ICCS
community, we are certain this campaign will be successful.
