Opening in 1882, St. Charles Academy staffed by the Sisters
Marinates of the Holy Cross served as the center of Catholic
education for Calcasieu Parish.
In 1949, the pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish undertook
the building of the parochial grade school and opened Immaculate
Conception School.
In 1950, ICCS was built to serve 1st through 8th grades.
Within the past five years, Immaculate Conception Cathedral School
has experienced a consistent growth in enrollment.
The 2009-2010 school year enrollment is currently over 400
students. This steady
growth
and the addition of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
has brought about the need for changes to our existing facility to
better accommodate the
educational requirements of our students and faculty.
This addition will allow us to
maintain two sections of each grade.
