Middle School (6-8) Enrichments

Enrichment Description
Basic Computer Skills Students become proficient users of Microsoft Office 2007 and/or Microsoft Office for Mac 2008, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel with emphasis on usage in the classroom.
Future City Teams of three work on an engineering based academic competition. One team is selected to represent ICCS at the state competition.
Advanced Technology Students explore podcasting, digital photo editing, video editing, and basic website publishing.
Hand Bells Study of music through hand bells with the opportunity to perform at seasonal programs.
Guitar Students learn to read and play basic notes, chords, chord changes, and songs.
Bible Bowl Students learn interesting facts from people to places to food to clothes, becoming champions at different Bible games.
Country and Western Dancing Students learn basic 8-counts and steps in country and western partner dances and line dances.
Drama An introduction to theatre with opportunities to participate in stage performances including a Winter and a Spring production
Finance 101 Students learn about banks, borrowing, checking accounts, and keeping track of expenses for college and homeowners.
Needle Craft Students learn the traditional needle skill of crocheting creating items such as scarves, blankets, and other beginner projects.
Book Club Chill out at the library where students choose the books to read and lead the discussion. Think outside the book, go beyond the words on the page, and join in conversation and a little culture at our library.
Sign Language Students learn basic letters and common words used in communicating in sign language.
Spanish I & II The opportunity to understand, speak, read, and write the Spanish language as well as introducing students to the nature and structure of the language.
Visual Arts Students increase their knowledge of the principles and elements of design through drawing, painting, and sculpting various projects.
Volleyball Students participate in drills aimed at improving their volleyball skills and knowledge of strategies.
WWII Students explore the cause and effect of WWII, including the Treaty of Versailles, Europe in the 1930s, the Holocaust, and the War in the Pacific.
